Weekend jaunt to South Carolina

Tom and I went to Columbia to visit his sister, Linda and her husband, Phil. We walked on Saturday, and were generally pretty lazy and laid back. It was a wonderfully restful weekend.

On Sunday, after church we went out to lunch. Phil's pick...Moe's Italian Grapevine. (Phil is Italian...) The food was awesome. Tom got to enjoy a Mimosa. I abstained after checking my glucose level and it being way too high. I thought about having eggplant parmigiana, but the bg was too high for that. I settled on a Florentine Tilapia that was very very good. I passed on the pasta, so I was very very good too! :)

After lunch and a short nap, we went to the South Carolina State House. The grounds are beautiful and the building very impressive. We walked around for a long time, and saw the statue of Strom Thurmond, one of Wade Hampton on a horse, and the black history monument.

Great weekend! I can't wait to go back. Linda and Phil are wonderfully hospitable, and their new home is beautiful. Plus, the two dogs are sweet and fun to be around. I forgot to get a picture of them, but Savannah is a very large, and very old yellow lab, and Puff is some kind of of a smallish, yellow Heinz 57. Phil says she is al Queda breed because she is such a terror! She sits and stares at you until you pick her up. If you ignore her, she pats you with her paw.

There was a huge Magnolia tree on the capital grounds. Here is Tom leaning on it. Beautiful tree! I bet it would be fun to climb.

Sounds like Puff and Louella may be related...or came from the same terrorist cell.
