Diabetes has changed me a lot. I have walked and done my weight lifting seven out of the last eight days. I have been eating like the best Sugar Buster in the world. Nothing off plan has crossed my lips with the exception of one bite of Tom's fried chicken at Cracker Barrel on our way home from Columbia Sunday evening. Having to get back onto the straight and narrow has been good for me. I actually have slept all night the past two nights. I feel rested. Good. Unfortunately, a sign of my 'getting better' was gaining the ten pounds I lost back. Bummer. Yesterday, I went out and bought myself a new glucose meter. The One Touch Ultra 2. I love it. It has a lot of features that are nice, like the listing feature so you can see all your tests, the time and the value. It even has a back light so you can read it in the dark. The best part about it is the price. It was $69 at CVS. I used my CVS card, and it was $31 after their $40 instant rebate! Inside the box was a rebate card for up to $70 back! I like free.
This morning, my blood glucose levels were the lowest morning reading yet. At present, I am feeling encouraged. I hope it lasts.
