Nailed it!

I unloaded the oh so important kiln today. Woo hoo! I had one casualty that I was expecting. It was a bowl I was hoping I could salvage with a thick coat of glaze in the bottom. The crack I was hoping to cover just got bigger, so it will make lovely planter.

The other pieces were good. I won't say who each piece is for, since one of my sisters in law occasionally reads this blog. I hope she is too busy to check it, since she is sharp and will figure it out, I am sure.

So here are two of the pieces from the kiln:

This first is a platter that is about 14 inches wide. It has calla lilies over each handle. I love the way the glaze breaks over the edges.

This piece is a vase. The flowers are over a green background. The difference in how the glaze and stain material behaves with stoneware instead of porcelain is very interesting. I like it though.

So, I could coast the rest of the week, but I have more to do! I still need to finish stuff for MY family and get it packed and shipped.
