Yes, the internet CAN be a blessing!

I moderate a forum on a huge diet web site. I love the forum and the women who post there. We all have a lot in common. We all follow Sugar Busters. With the new things I am dealing with- diabetes, glucose control, managing a disease there is no cure for- I went looking for a forum for diabetics. Our site did have one, but it was not very developed. Just a handful of folks chatting a bit on a regular basis. So, we started one. I am really encouraged. With the estimate of 20 million Americans having diabetes, and perhaps 25% of those not even knowing it, a good forum could be a great support to a potentially large number of people. The forum we started seems to be generating interest. It is encouraging to me to read what others are writing...folks who have lived with diabetes for five, ten or even fifteen years. Their struggles, their triumphs. Its very uplifting to find others with the same mindset. They understand. They relate. They know how it feels to look at the screen of a glucose meter and find a number that raises the hackles on your head. They understand that triumphant feeling when your tests come back good. Its rather liberating to have comrades.

Thank God for the internet!
