Life takes unexpected turns now and then. Today was one of those days...one of the days you hope and pray never comes. Tom was laid off this afternoon. It was totally unexpected. They had even sent him to a conference Wednesday and Thursday. This afternoon, his boss called him in and gave him the news. He cleaned out his office and came home early.
This has only happened twice before, and both times he was able to find a new job before the severance was gone. It may be like that again. I don't know how the job market is for folks with his skills and experience. I don't want to whine, or worry too much. I just don't feel comfortable with the uncertainty of it. Instead of buying stuff for my pottery I need to really tighten the belt so to speak. I wonder what will happen if insurance runs out before he finds another job. Will I still be able to get my medications? Is there a chance we will have to move? Are people our age discriminated against when looking for work? We really have six people who live here and are dependant on Tom's income to survive. What will happen if things don't work out well?
Thankfully, we are in the hands of a great and gracious God. He is an anchor in the storm. I really need that right now.
