The mountains were beautiful. If I had not twisted my knee the morning we left, I would have gotten in a LOT more hiking. Tom told me to baby it, so it would heal quickly. It is still bothering me a LOT. I think the cooler weather, and rain are not helping. :(
We had fun hanging out in the cabin. We found a nice micro-brewery in Silva, NC and got some of their beer, and root beer. The root beer was made with sugar and NO HFCS, so it did not mess up my glucose levels much. We drove into the Great Smokies and stopped at NewFound Gap...very pretty! We spent a lot of time in the hot tub. I think we need one! It sure helped my knee!
We came home on Friday, and Tom got going on the project that has been hanging over his head for a few weeks now: the plumbing to the sink in our bathroom. He had the vanity pulled out, and the mirror torn off the wall. Last night, he finished cementing the pipe for the drain, and it works splendidly! Hooray! The end of the big replumbing job is in sight. All that remains of the horrible polybutylene pipe is a piece about six feet long in the ceiling of the garage...a piece of cake to replace! Once that is done, we need to throw ourselves full force into the job of fixing all the holes, and replacing ceilings, wall board, and flooring. We are starting in the bathroom...I am going to be steaming the wall paper off the walls and preparing them to paint. I have NO idea what I want to do in there yet, but it will come to me. :)
Its nice to be home. I will post pictures when I can get James to transfer them for me....
