Checking in...

I have had a very discouraging week. I was making a bowl for a commission, and it was looking really nice. I was very pleased with it when I put it in the kiln. Right next to it, I put a smallish bowl made with a new clay body I was trying out. The smallish bowl blew up in the firing, and pieces of it hit the large bowl next to it and broke it as well. I don't have time to re-do the bowl in time for Mother's day, so I guess I lose ANOTHER commission. I am rather frustrated at my inability to produce anything decent. Sometimes, I wonder why I am even bothering to try. I have a good amount of pots I consider not good, nasty and only worthy of the pot graveyard on the far side of Bonnie's driveway. I am rather severe on myself, perhaps, but I don't like much of what I make. It just never seems to turn out right. The pot will be nice, but the glaze will crawl. The glaze will be ok, but the pot will be too heavy or look clunky, or whatever. I begin to despair of ever making anything decent. My next chore is to finish glazing the kids pots and get them delivered by Wednesday afternoon to the school I hope I don't screw that up.

James is home, but leaving tonight to drive to Louisville for two days. Then he will be home and going in to the office for training for a week or two before being sent back out on the road again.

I got my H2Oman today, and my new bathing suit. I also got a set of waterbells. They are resistance dumbells for using in water aerobics. So, now I am all set! If the weather will just warm up a bit, I can do water aerobics at home. Right now, the pool is awfully cold!
