There is no such thing as free shipping....

Right now, I am so mad I could eat nails. I ordered a bunch of stuff from Amazon. I checked carefully to see if I needed to pay for shipping, or could use free shipping on my $300 order and still receive it in time for Christmas. The estimate it listed was that it would ship by the 20th, and arrive before the 23rd. That was last Friday morning. Cool. Then, Tuesday, I get an 'update', saying they are sorry, but the one item that was backordered would not ship as estimated. (I already knew that...no problem...the rest of the shipment includes all of my Christmas presents for one of my kids, so that was the more crucial of the items, and the one listed as arriving BEFORE the 23rd.) In addition to changing the estimate on that particular item, they ALSO changed the estimate for the rest of the order to shipping sometime next week. When I emailed to complain, I got the essential form email returned, just stating the free shipping policy and of course using an email address that will not accept replies.

My experience is not unusual this year. I have had three or four others complain about how crappy Amazon's shipping has been this year. I may not order from them next year.

I don't feel much better for venting about that. I still need to go out now, and get a present for the poor person in my family who will have to wait until next week for their presents.

You HAVE to have SOMETHING under the tree, damn it.
